Revival?
Published February 3, 2012We’ve lost the true biblical meaning of revival. How so? Well, today we think of revival as putting some spirit back into worship, or giving people a strong jolt of guilt to inspire repentance and godly living. That’s what it amounted to in the Second Great Awakening of the mid-19th century. “Revivalists” like Charles Finney encouraged people to repent and get straight with God. Finney had his “anxious seat” where fallen sinners could come and seek God’s forgiveness and salvation.
