Pastor Tom Brown
Pastor Brown is a graduate of the University of Redlands, Redlands, California, and the American Baptist Seminary of the West, Covina, CA. He holds a B.A. in psychology and an M. Div. in pastoral ministry.
He has served in our community as the chairman of the Show Low High School Drug education and prevention committee under the administration of Tom. He has been a volunteer, then a reserve fire fighter, and finally Chaplain at the Show Low Fire Department since 1992. He has been a member of the White Mountain Ministerial Alliance under the administration of Rev. Dennis Adams, and is now a member of the White Mountain Pastor’s Fellowship.
Pastor Brown has written 12 books, the best known being his Fire Storm: The Rodeo-Chediski Fire, an account of that horrible fire from the perspective of a fire fighter, and also, his Storm Over Show Low, a novel about White Mountain religion, politics and a future conflict between gun owners and our government. The Browns have four adult children: Angela, Clint, Jesse, and Andrew and three grandchildren.
Although Pastor Tom, along with his wife, Margaret, are officially retired, they are by no means inactive! In 2010, along with several other area churches they formed the Good News Club for elementary school-age children to learn the good news of Jesus Christ. A coalition of several White Mountain Christian churches, including New Hope Christian Fellowship, minister to the community of Show Low through benevolence in the form of monetary and food gifts. Called Christian Community Outreach, this nonprofit organization serves as a backup to the local Salvation Army, which often suffers from depleted resources, particularly around the holiday season.
At New Hope Christian Fellowship, we are blessed to have such a wonderful, learned, caring leader as Pastor Tom and his wonderful wife, Margaret.
