A Savior

A Savior
Christmas is about Jesus of Nazareth, who is the Christ of God, being born in Bethlehem. It’s about God becoming a man, to live with us and to share in our joys and our sufferings. “And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1.14).
Here’s the great mercy of God, in that we could have been saved by keeping the Law, but we could not, so He came personally to keep the Law and to pay the price for our iniquities, our sins. He came as a human baby, “born of a woman, born under the law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law…” (Gal.4.4,5).
For His “grace (mercy) and His truth (righteousness)” have saved us from the curse of the Law, which is judgment and death.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith…not as a result of works…” (Ephes.2.8,9). Because God came as a human being, and because He “emptied Himself of (His God-ness), taking the form of a bond-servant, being made in the likeness of men, we can celebrate our salvation. Jesus has accomplished what we could not. Merry Christmas.
