cross country

 Cross Country.
Now that the presidential election is over we may want to let-down some, feeling, with a sigh of relief, that everything’s okay. Well, I wish it was, but unfortunately, things are still very tenuous. We don’t have a new president until inauguration day January 20, 2017.
Our nation is badly divided. In fact, we’re evenly divided 50-50. Both Trump and Clinton got around 59M votes…+ or -. Bad feelings abound, protests are taking place, and we need to be praying for national unity.
But, we people are sprinters. We run from one thing to another, and when we get by one thing we forget about it and run to the next. Well, we need to think “cross-country.” Life is marathons, not sprints; and in the case of this presidential race, we need to think and pray the long haul…26 grueling miles.
It’s no different with our Christian lives. Paul writes to the Roman Christians: “We exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character; hope; and hope does not disappoint, because of God’s love…” (Rom.5.3-5).
      Hang in there saints.
