BEING SPIRIT CONNECTED

Holy-Spirit-Dove-smallWhere’s the “power” in the Christian life?   It’s in the Holy Spirit.  So, how do you get the Spirit?  Well, the Holy Spirit comes to indwell the believer at the time of his new birth (Rom.8.9; 1 Cor. 12.13; Ephes. 1.13).  Jesus told us that we need to be “born again”(John 3.3).  It’s a spiritual birth, and we receive a spiritual presence (an indwelling) at that time.

Some will say, “Yes, I did that, but I don’t feel like I have any power.”  Okay.  Why not?

The Bible is very clear that we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit  (John 3.5; Acts 1.5; Luke 3.16).  It’s part of our inheritance in Christ Jesus (John 14.16).  But, there’s a requirement: we need to be willing to surrender to the Holy Spirit.  Surrendering means that we confess our sins, repent, get cleansed and filled (1 John 1,9).  The Holy Spirit is not going to fill an unclean space, and that’s our problem.  Too often we “grieve” the Holy Spirit with our sin, and we “quench” the Holy Spirit with our pride (Ephes. 4.30; 1 Thess. 5.19).

Come to Jesus, seek, ask, knock.  Receive what Jesus promised.  Seek a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit daily.
