The New Year 2012
A new year is laid out in front of us. Should we be sad, or glad? Well, as always it depends on what press you listen to and who you trust.
For many this coming year is filled with questions, even more so than previous years.
For one thing, this is the infamous 2012…the year the Mayan Long Count calendar ends. One school of thought says that the Maya prophesied the end of the world; another school of thought says that it’s merely the end of one age and the beginning of another. I’m with the latter group. Why? Because the Bible doesn’t say anything
about the Maya calendar nor 2012.
Given that the world will continue, we’d best consider this year as a new year of opportunity, and why not, considering how God has blessed our church in 2011. Please remember that even in a year of recession, hardship, chaotic politics and economic disruption, God has seen fit to answer our prayers and lift up our church building. Strange. He wants us to trust in Him (Prov. 3.5,6; Phil.4.13). Building in a good year is no big deal, but building in a terrible year is close to miraculous!
Shouldn’t we be optimistic and hopeful given God’s great kindness to us? I believe that 2012 will be one of the best year’s that New Hope Christian Fellowship has ever had. It’s also our 20th anniversay. Please join us in prayer for the best and continue to faithfully walk with us in this ministry.
