Honoring Our Fathers
Becoming a father is one of life’s most exciting and important moments. Fathers are tasked with an extremely important role – that of raising healthy, happy children who know the Lord. They function as role models and disciplinarians, teachers and mentors. They are no less vital to the family unit than mothers.
Not all of us have fond memories of our fathers. In fact, chances are very few recall a childhood that emulated Leave It To Beaver or Father Knows Best. But that’s okay. Each and every one has a father that is always there for us, who loves us even though we are sinners. He is our Heavenly Father.
We, as humans, can’t be like Him. We can’t be Jesus Christ. But we can do our best to live as He wants us to. Throughout the Bible, we are taught to honor our father and mother, to love them, to respect them. And we know that when the Bible repeats statements, it means they are very important.
So today let’s honor our all of our fathers – not only our Heavenly Father, but those men who have given of themselves in so many ways.
A Father Means
Author Unknown
A Father means so many things …
An understanding heart,
A source of strength and of support
Right from the very start.
A constant readiness to help
In a kind and thoughtful way.
With encouragement and forgiveness
No matter what comes your way.
A special generosity and always affection, too
A Father means so many things
When he’s a man like you …
